Resource Highlight: MCAA’s Federal Prompt Payment Act

November 10, 2023

The federal government has enacted regulations governing payment terms between the government and its construction contractors, as well as between those contractors and their lower-tier subcontractors. MCAA’s Federal Prompt Payment Act provides an overview of these regulations to help mechanical contractors ensure that they are being paid in a timely manner. It’s just one of MCAA’s educational resources that are free to MCAA members as a benefit of membership.

The bulletin explores:

  • The elements of a “proper” invoice, and why timely submission is key
  • Government response and receiving reports
  • Interest payments
  • Lower-tier subcontract payments
