Historic Payment Transparency Arrives in Maryland with the Help of the MCA-Maryland Team

March 7, 2022

Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot announced the roll-out of the Maryland Vendor Information Electronic Warehouse (MD-VIEW), one of the first of its kind in the nation, at a press conference held on February 28, 2022. The payment portal provides real-time, prime contractor payment transparency to empower Maryland contractors with the information they need to better manage cash flow, an issue that for decades has had a particular disparate impact on small and minority contractors. MCA-Maryland and MCAA members played a part in making this happen.

Cynthia Esparza Crockett of Crockett Facilities Services, Inc. and Lauren Elek of Denver-Elek spoke in support of MD-VIEW during the press conference. In addition, the EASI team led by Jeff Ashe, along with Carl Neimeyer with Bernward Mechanical and the Denver-Elek team participated in an initial demonstration of the portal and offered thoughtful feedback on the level of value it offers for MCA-Maryland members.

MCA-Maryland Executive Board Member and EASI Owner Jeff Ashe said, “As a business owner in the community, we are extremely pleased that, after many years, this issue has finally been resolved. Kudos to the Comptroller and his staff for addressing this matter with a common-sense solution.”
