Technology Report on Field Service Software

In the fourth installment of the MCAA Construction Technology Research Series, our partners at JB Knowledge surveyed MSCA members on their technology practices and software needs for service operations before comparing 16 different software solutions. Free to members.

BIM Software Analysis Webinar with Josh Bone

In this webinar, Josh Bone, lead author of the MCAA Construction Technology Research Report on BIM Software, presents some insights from his research findings and discusses the differences in the software tested and the BIM and VDC process.

At the MCAA Construction Technology Conference, MCAA President Tom Stone announced the release of the second report in the MCAA Construction Technology Research Series on BIM Software.

The study, developed exclusively for MCAA by JB Knowledge, provides a comparative analysis on software platforms used for virtual design and construction. The goal of this research study is to at least help contractors evaluate and compare the many BIM platforms suitable for mechanical contractors. For contractors with established BIM or VDC departments, this research report will prove useful in evaluating your software platforms and comparing them to features available in other options. The report is a free benefit of MCAA membership.

BIM Software – A Comparative Analysis

This second report in the Construction Technology Research Series was written by JBKLabs exclusively for MCAA. Contractors can greatly benefit from a clear understanding of rapidly evolving BIM technologies in the area of construction and maintenance that can expedite work, increase precision, and prevent mistakes.

This report explores scanning, tracking, layout, design and fabrication technologies using BIM and other software tools. Focusing on MEP, the report includes an assessment of various BIM software for BIM model authoring, model review, construction management, and analysis software tools for mechanical contractors. This snapshot evaluated the products as of the second quarter of 2016. And everyone, contractors new to BIM and those further down the road, should find useful takeaways here.

3D Scanning Technology – A Comparative Analysis

Technology is a challenge and an opportunity. MCAA partnered with JBK Labs to help our members keep pace by conducting independent research on 3D Scanning technologies. This report is the first of a series.

Construction Technology Report – 3D Scanning Webinar with James Benham

In 2016, the MCAA partnered with JBK Labs to release a multi-part research series on construction technology. Each part can be used by contractors to help evaluate and compare specific products and software in order to help determine how beneficial they could be to their operations. In the first release of the series, 3D Scanning Technology was explored.

James Benham, founder of JB Knowledge and their research wing, JBK Labs, presents findings from the study in this webinar. He explores and compares the differences in products, software and processes that contractors will see when they begin to utilize 3D scanning technology. He also takes a look at some solutions that are not quite ready yet to show what the future of 3D scanning technology might look like

Construction Apps Five Key Workflows by Rob McKinney

Construction applications are changing the way we perform work on the job site. This webinar walks contractors through five key workflows that have changed for mechanical and plumbing contractors. The workflows include:

1. Plan management: how to move away from paper based management to digital management on mobile devices through the cloud.

2. Daily reporting: how to move away from paper based forms to digital forms on mobile devices through the cloud.

3. Progress photos: how to move away from analogue digit cameras to apps used mobile devices for real time capture.

4. Time entry: how to move away from paper based forms or Excel to digital forms on mobile devices through the cloud.

5. Safety documentation: how to move away from paper based forms to digital forms on mobile devices through the cloud.

Rob McKinney, CRIS – A construction technology speaker, known as the ConTech Guru. He is a leading industry expert in the use of mobile devices in the construction industry and software applications for contractors.
