Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred but not required
Position Overview
The Office Engineer supports the Project Management team by coordinating project documentation, tracking project progress, and assisting with administrative and technical tasks related to construction projects. This role serves as a critical link between field operations, project management, subcontractors, and clients to ensure projects are executed efficiently, on schedule, and in compliance with contract requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Project Documentation & Administration
Maintain and manage project documentation including contracts, drawings, specifications, and correspondence.
Track and log Requests for Information (RFIs), Submittals, Change Orders, and Transmittals.
Ensure all project records are organized and up to date within the company’s document management system.
Assist with preparation and distribution of project meeting minutes.
Submittals & RFIs
Prepare and track submittal logs and ensure timely submission from subcontractors and suppliers.
Coordinate review of submittals between subcontractors, project managers, and design professionals.
Assist in preparing RFIs and tracking responses to ensure resolution of design or construction questions.
Schedule & Cost Tracking
Support project teams in monitoring construction schedules and progress milestones.
Assist with updating project schedules and tracking key deliverables.
Help maintain project cost logs including change orders, allowances, and contingency tracking.
Coordination Support
Coordinate communication between project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and consultants.
Assist with project closeout documentation including warranties, as-built drawings, and operation manuals.
Support procurement efforts including bid leveling and subcontractor prequalification.
Field & Office Integration
Interface with field teams to ensure project documentation aligns with site activities.
Assist with site reporting including daily reports, safety documentation, and progress photos when required.
Participate in project meetings and coordination sessions.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
Equivalent field experience will be considered.
Experience
1–5 years of construction industry experience preferred.
Internship experience within construction management is acceptable.
Technical Skills
Familiarity with construction drawings and specifications.
Working knowledge of construction project processes and documentation.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Experience with construction management software such as:
Procore
Bluebeam
Primavera P6
Microsoft Project
Autodesk Construction Cloud (preferred but not required).
