Steamfitters Local 449 is hosting a 3-Day HVAC/R curriculum workshop to assist our sister locals who need help starting or expanding their HVAC/R program.
In the words of Ken Broadbent “Our greatest strength is each other.”
This is a hands-on workshop where teams will build a draft HVAC-R program plan they can take back to their training center! Including ready to use labs and resources.
Monday May 4th. – Travel Day (Marriott Pittsburgh North)

- Additional HVACR classes, nighttime, High school, Veteran
- Accelerated Service Training “AST” 10-week program
Thursday May 7th. – Breakfast (7:30 a.m.-8:00 a.m.)
- Skill progression and instructional focus by apprenticeship year, aligned to local contractor workforce needs
- Curriculum planning (instructional strategies, pacing, certifications, and alignment to industry standards)
- Materials and equipment progression (what is needed, when, and how it supports hands-on learning and safety)
- Program effectiveness measures (assessment, certifications, evaluation, and feedback loops)
Lunch buffet at the event center (12:00 p.m.-12:30 p.m.)
- Annual reflection and continuous improvement processes
- Budget considerations and priority action steps for the next 6–12 months
- Closing remarks
