Description:
MSCA is proud to partner with the EMCOR Training Center in Phoenix, AZ, to provide MSCA members with top-tier fundamental technical classes designed to strengthen their expertise in mechanical systems. The MSCA Pump & Motor Service class provides a comprehensive overview of centrifugal pumps, including their operation, common accessories, how to read and apply pump curves in the field, and how to select the right pump for various applications. We’ll also cover important topics such as cavitation, system troubleshooting, and effective pump selection. Additional topics include VFD operation, lead-lag vs. parallel pump configurations, mechanical seal limitations, and the fundamentals of ECM motors. On the system design side, we’ll explore pipe sizing and friction loss using the System Syzer, compare primary-secondary vs. primary-only piping schemes, and discuss key components like the fill valve, expansion tank, and air separator. In the hands-on portion of the course, technicians will gain practical experience with the disassembly, repair, and reassembly of various pump and motor configurations.
