MSCA Pump & Motor Service, Fall 2025

MSCA is proud to partner with the EMCOR Training Center in Phoenix, AZ, to provide MSCA members with top-tier fundamental technical classes designed to strengthen their expertise in mechanical systems. The MSCA Pump & Motor Service class provides a comprehensive overview of centrifugal pumps, including their operation, common accessories, how to read and apply pump curves in the field, and how to select the right pump for various applications. We’ll also cover important topics such as cavitation, system troubleshooting, and effective pump selection. Additional topics include VFD operation, lead-lag vs. parallel pump configurations, mechanical seal limitations, and the fundamentals of ECM motors. On the system design side, we’ll explore pipe sizing and friction loss using the System Syzer, compare primary-secondary vs. primary-only piping schemes, and discuss key components like the fill valve, expansion tank, and air separator. In the hands-on portion of the course, technicians will gain practical experience with the disassembly, repair, and reassembly of various pump and motor configurations.

Get the management and leadership skills you need to help your company succeed during this intensive four-day program. If you have advanced through the trades with little or no formal management training or you want to enhance your management skills to become a more effective leader, this course is for you. A variety of small group activities, assessment tools, and skills-building exercises will help you apply the skills you learn in class, preparing you to go back to the office ready to use what you’ve learned. Topics will include financial management, communications, coaching, managing conflict, motivating employees and more.

Daikin Rebel Applied Units and Micro Tech 4 Controls Service and Troubleshooting

This class is a 2-day online and 2-day in person training course for Daikin Rebel Applied Units and Micro Tech 4 controls service and troubleshooting. The online training needs to be completed prior to the start of the in-person class to receive credit.

Upon successful completion of the Micro Tech 4 Service & Troubleshooting course, students will be able to:

  • Recognize the different access levels
  • Navigate to the Daikin Applied website and locate and save the appropriate resource based on product need
  • Use the features of a PDF document to change the zoom level, conduct a search, save and print on laptop and phone
  • Explain key terminology associated with the MicroTech 4 controller and applicable units
  • Identify the sequence of operating states for a unit and describe the activity that occurs during each state

Upon successful completion of the Rebel Applied Service & Troubleshooting course, students will be able to:

  • Navigate & modify adjustment settings and parameters in MicroTech® 4 controller and operate to satisfy engineering specifications.
  • Utilize electrical meters, wiring diagrams, and MT 4 controller for unit diagnostics and troubleshooting.
  • Set-up and operation for Daikin Rebel gas, electric, and hot-water heat
  • Prepare and report accurate commissioning data on Daikin Warranty Registration Form
  • Perform proper preventative maintenance per the Daikin Operations Manual

Trane Legacy Intellipak 20-130 Tons

This course focuses on operation, start-up and maintenance of 20 to 130 ton IntelliPak I and 90 to 162 ton IntelliPak II rooftop units. Proper service techniques will be discussed to include correct maintenance procedures and intervals. Factory recommended installation and start-up procedures will also be discussed. Attendees will be able to start-up, operate and program unit control microprocessors, as well as understand control logic and check-out procedures with unit diagnostics.

Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Discuss rooftop unit functions using IntelliPak terminology.
  • Demonstrate circuit board level troubleshooting by using an Intellipak wiring diagram.
  • Discuss configuration and setup of a unit using an Intellipak Human Interface.
  • Demonstrate the proper setup procedure for cooling and heating.
  • Discuss and demonstrate pressure transducer troubleshooting.
  • Describe the basic IntelliPak sequences of operation.
  • Describe scroll compressor construction and operation.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot IntelliPak binary and analog inputs and outputs.
  • Test and verify modulating dehumidification.

Trane Symbio 700 2-Day Training

The Precedent and Voyager with Symbio 700 program provides the technical knowledge and skills required to start- up, service and troubleshoot Precedent units with Symbio 700 controls and is intended to familiarize technicians with the new Precedent with Symbio 700 controls rooftop unit. This course will cover new product information with an emphasis on the Symbio 700 control platform.

MCAA, SMACNA, TAUC have partnered together to host the Safety & Health Conference, the biggest construction safety event of the year.
