FASB UpdateMCAA has developed answers to Frequently Asked Questions, an interactive FASB Disclosure Table Excel worksheet and a Guidance Memo to help its member contractors and their accountants comply with FASB's new standard 715-80, Disclosure About an Employer's Participation in a Multiemployer Plan. For publicly traded companies the standard's disclosure requirements take effect for annual periods ending after December 15, 2011, and for privately owned companies the standard's take effect for periods after December 15, 2012.

ACHR News Honors MCAA Coalition on FASB Rule
ACHR News has awarded its NEWSmaker honor to MCAA for forming and leading the Construction Industry FASB Coalition that worked on FASB's Multiemployer Plan Disclosure standard. According to ACHR News' December 19 announcement, "NEWSmakers of 2011 are the following staff and members of the Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) who were instrumental in a collaborative revision of a proposed restrictive accounting requirement: John Gentille, CEO of MCAA; John McNerney, general counsel of MCAA; Robert Lake, EMCOR Services Mesa Energy Systems Inc., Irvine, Calif.; Richard Sawhill, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration and Mechanical Contractors Association of Southern California; James Estabrook, Lindabury, McCormick, Estrabrook & Cooper, P.C.; Lawrence Beebe, CPA, Bond Beebe, Accountants & Advisors; and Cary Franklin, F.S.A., Horizon Actuarial Services LLC.
