The program is designed for anyone who supervises service technicians in the field including field supervisors, operations managers, service managers, field foremen, and field leaders. Enhance Your Energy Service Expertise!

MSCA Updates STAR/GreenSTAR Program Requirements to Assure Your Success!

Over the past several years, the MSCA STAR program has evolved and grown in response to market opportunities and changing times. In 2007, MSCA’s GreenSTAR Qualified Contractors Program was introduced in response to the demand for LEED certification, green and sustainability. With today’s focus on energy services and cost-saving strategies, the STAR program is once again positioned to respond. In 2012, the goal is for all current MSCA STARs to achieve GreenSTAR Qualification. To help you achieve this, the requirements for GreenSTAR have been revised and updated to better reflect today’s conditions.

Any company new to the STAR program will now be able to immediately apply for GreenSTAR qualification. Current GreenSTARs will be “grandfathered” into the new program and no action is required on their part. Through local, regional and national marketing efforts, MSCA’s GreenSTARs will now be recognized as THE “Energy Solution Providers” of choice and the experts to call upon for all of a building’s energy service needs. MSCA is supporting this effort with ENERGY STAR webinars and a coming-soon energy solutions customized software.

Learn How Using ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager Can Differentiate Your Company

To help you gain a better understanding of the capabilities and value of offering energy benchmarks through ENERGY STAR, MSCA recently presented a series of webinars and training sessions. Be sure to check them out today! These webinars are:

A 23-Hour Cyclone of Learning: STAR Summit 2011 in Kansas City

MSCA's STAR Summit, held on December 7-8 in Kansas City, MO, was a whirlwind program of learning and sharing with peers that was filled to capacity. Attendees learned how to cement long-term, on-going profitable relationships with customers through energy services. The program included hands-on training on ENERGY STAR's Portfolio Manager, a free tool from the EPA to benchmark a building's energy consumption and other environmental factors.

Attendees also got a sneak peak at MSCA's Energy Solutions Profile (ESP) Reporting Program, currently in the final stages of development. The ESP software will be available at no cost to MSCA GreenSTARs.

Think that's a lot? There was more! STAR Summit participants also benefited from a comprehensive review of Energy Service Agreements (ESAs) from Russ Borst (Hurst Mechanical, Belmont, MI) and MSCA Chairman Woody Woodall (Gary Company, Washington, DC). Lastly, attendees learned how to approach marketing their companies' energy solutions services to differentiate themselves from competitors in their marketplace. The event was topped off by presentations by three of the teams established to work together during the Summit. These teams did an outstanding job of showing how they benchmarked a sample building and demonstrating how they would "pitch" energy solutions services to customers and prospects.

Another STAR Summit is in the works for later in 2012. Watch your e-mail for more information about the next event.
